“Healing at the Table”
About The Convergence
The 5th Annual Convergence, hosted by Makoce Agriculture Development, centers on the theme “Healing at The Table.”
Across our communities, we are navigating uncertainty in our health systems, food systems, economies, and relationships. Yet one space has always held the power to restore balance: the table.
The table is where we gather.
The table is where we share food.
The table is where stories live.
The table is where culture is passed down.
The table is where healing begins.
Healing at The Table invites producers, youth, families, and partners to explore how land stewardship, cultural food systems, and shared meals contribute to mental, emotional, spiritual, and physical well-being.
Day 1 centers producers — recognizing that the table begins in the field. Through peer connection and land-based dialogue, we strengthen the roots of our food system.
Days 2 and 3 — invite the broader community to engage in workshops, storytelling, shared meals, and wellness conversations that connect food sovereignty to whole-person healing.
Day 4 — Led by our partners at Tanka Fund, this day invites community members across the Pine Ridge Reservation and beyond to gather and learn about the Buffalo. This day will center around the teachings of the buffalo such as the creation story, the Great Race, our connection to Buffalo, learning songs, and dance. This day will also discuss how we can be good stewards to the land and how we can do our part to heal the buffalo.
This convergence is more than a conference. It is a gathering of relatives. A reminder. A return.
Because healing begins at the table.
