Career Opportunity

The regenerative farm associate intern will work closely with the farm team to manage and perform labor tasks in relation to the production management of broiler chickens and turkeys. The farm associate intern will work daily around live chickens and turkeys (depending on season) ensuring adequate care is maintained and data is collected pertaining to chicken and turkey growth, health and animal welfare. This position is entry level and temporary seasonal. Selected candidate(s) will be required to be punctual and reliable in order to assist in chore completion and necessary labor tasks in poultry growth management and other duties as needed pertaining to increased production at the Woyute Regenerative Farm. The associate intern will also be tasked with data collection in final product details of processed chicken.

Program Description

The Makoce Ag Internship Program is a paid opportunity designed to support youth and young adults as they gain hands-on experience in food systems and community-based work.

Beginning May 2026, interns will work 20 hours per week at $15 per hour over the course of a 3-month cohort.

The MAD Internship Program is a hands-on, 3-month experience designed to grow the next generation of food systems leaders across the Pine Ridge Reservation. Interns will gain real-world training in areas like regenerative agriculture, cultural foods, community engagement, and food systems development working alongside the Makoce Ag team and local partners. This program is rooted in building pathways for local workforce development, supporting food sovereignty, and investing in our community’s future.

Available Internship Positions

Supports storytelling and content creation for Makoce Ag. This role focuses on capturing and sharing our work through social media, photography, video, audio, and written content. Interns will help highlight programs, events, and community impact while building skills in media, branding, and digital engagement.

Communications Intern

Supports connection between Makoce Ag and the community. This role focuses on helping plan and attend events, assisting with outreach efforts, and building relationships with community members, partners, and youth. Interns will gain experience in organizing, communication, and on-the-ground engagement.

Community Engagement Intern

Supports day-to-day operations that keep Makoce Ag running smoothly. This role focuses on administrative tasks, organization, scheduling, and internal support across teams. Interns will build skills in professionalism, time management, and behind-the-scenes operations.

Office Assistant Intern

Supports the development and operations of Makoce Ag’s Food Hub programming. This role focuses on food systems work such as distribution, inventory, and supporting local producers. Interns will gain hands-on experience in food systems development and workforce pathways tied to food sovereignty.
